Welcome to the Coding Explorer Blog!

If you are just getting your feet wet programming for iOS in Swift and want some help in your journey, then you have come to the right place.  The truth is, people like you are exactly why I started this blog.

About Nick

My name is Nick Hanan, and began teaching myself how to program for iOS in Objective-C back at the beginning of 2013.  Prior to that, I have been professionally programming in Java, C, and C# since about 2009.

You read that correctly:  I only started programming for iOS in 2013.  You may be asking yourself, “What business does this whippersnapper have writing about something he knows so little about?”  Firstly, I question the decision to use the word “whippersnapper.”  Secondly, I think that is the perfect reason to write about this subject!

I named this the Coding Explorer Blog, because that is what I am doing, I am currently exploring how to code.  Along the way, I will inevitably struggle with some concepts, get some figurative bumps and bruises, and learn from them.  Am I going to be the only person to run into these issues?  Of course not!  I decided that I should share with the world what I learn from these experiences, to help others that run into the same problems.

This blog started about Objective-C, but when Swift was announced in June 2014, I knew I had to change the language focus of this blog.  Swift was such a clear and easy to read language, I knew it would be perfect for beginners, including myself.

In short, the Coding Explorer Blog is written for beginners, from a beginner’s perspective.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, now let’s start learning how to program for iOS in Swift together!
